You can install this GUI to Server Edition

I won’t be telling you the Step by Step on how to setup everything, but i’ll tell you where you can start and what you can do about it.

Who should read this?

- You need to know how to use a computer.

- You need to know how to use WinXP. ( Not Required, but useful )

- You need to know what is Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and what they do.

What you need and what follows next:

1. Install Linux OS (I choose to use Ubuntu Server Edition)

2. Install GUI (Optional, makes your life easier)

3. Install Apache Server ( this will host your website and allow you to do http:// )

4. Install PHP Server ( This allows you to code web applications on the server side, which is very powerful )

5. Install MySQL Server ( You will need this to store data, it’s a database server )

6. Install FTP Server (So you can upload files to this server or share files for others to download)

Something You need to know before you start.

1. To install Ubuntu, you can just basically download the installer and burn into a CD then start installing it and follow all the instructions appeared on the screen.

2. To install GUI, Apache, PHP, MySQL, gFTP you need to install from the Ubuntu itself once it is done.

By doing so, you need to install it from the “Terminal“, where you use  command line to install them.

In order to do so, we have to study the brain and find a way to read and write the brain as in programming’s I/O.

A team of researches from The Blue Brain Project had made such an attempt to understand how brain works by reverse engineering a mammal brain.

Professor Markram said he would send a hologram to talk at TED in 10 years

A detailed, functional artificial human brain can be built within the next 10 years, a leading scientist has claimed.

Henry Markram, director of the Blue Brain Project, has already simulated elements of a rat brain.

He told the TED Global conference in Oxford that a synthetic human brain would be of particular use finding treatments for mental illnesses.

Around two billion people are thought to suffer some kind of brain impairment, he said.

“It is not impossible to build a human brain and we can do it in 10 years,” he said.

“And if we do succeed, we will send a hologram to TED to talk.”

‘Shared fabric’

The Blue Brain project at Swizerland’s EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) was launched in 2005 and aims to reverse engineer the mammalian brain from laboratory data.

In particular, his team has focused on the neocortical column - repetitive units of the mammalian brain known as the neocortex.

“It’s a new brain,” he explained. “The mammals needed it because they had to cope with parenthood, social interactions complex cognitive functions.

“It was so successful an evolution from mouse to man it expanded about a thousand fold in terms of the numbers of units to produce this almost frightening organ.”

And that evolution continues, he said. “It is evolving at an enormous speed.”

Over the last 15 years, Professor Markram and his team have picked apart the structure of the neocortical column.

“It’s a bit like going and cataloguing a bit of the rainforest - how many trees does it have, what shape are the trees, how many of each type of tree do we have, what is the position of the trees,” he said.

“But it is a bit more than cataloguing because you have to describe and discover all the rules of communication, the rules of connectivity.”

The project now has a software model of “tens of thousands” of neurons - each one of which is different - which has allowed them to digitally construct an artificial neocortical column.

Although each neuron is unique, the team has found the patterns of circuitry in different brains have common patterns.

“Even though your brain may be smaller, bigger, may have different morphologies of neurons - we do actually share the same fabric,” he said.

“And we think this is species specific, which could explain why we can’t communicate across species.”

World view

To make the model come alive, the team feeds the models and a few algorithms into a supercomputer.

“You need one laptop to do all the calculations for one neuron,” he said. “So you need ten thousand laptops.”

Instead, he uses an IBM Blue Gene machine with 10,000 processors.

The research could give insights into brain disease

Simulations have started to give the researchers clues about how the brain works.

For example, they can show the brain a picture - say, of a flower - and follow the electrical activity in the machine.

“You excite the system and it actually creates its own representation,” he said.

Ultimately, the aim would be to extract that representation and project it so that researchers could see directly how a brain perceives the world.

But as well as advancing neuroscience and philosophy, the Blue Brain project has other practical applications.

For example, by pooling all the world’s neuroscience data on animals - to create a “Noah’s Ark”, researchers may be able to build animal models.

“We cannot keep on doing animal experiments forever,” said Professor Markram.

It may also give researchers new insights into diseases of the brain.

“There are two billion people on the planet affected by mental disorder,” he told the audience.

The project may give insights into new treatments, he said..

The TED Global conference runs from 21 to 24 July in Oxford, UK.

Alien from Sea of Azov

Village residents from the Rostov region of Russia caught a weird creature two weeks ago after a strong storm in the Sea of Azov. The shark-looking creature was producing strange squeaky sounds. The fishermen originally believed that they had caught an alien and decided to film the monster with the help of a cell phone camera. The footage clearly shows the creatures’ head, body and long tail. The bizarre catch was weighing almost 100 kilograms, the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.

However, ufologists and scientists were greatly disappointed when they found out that the fishermen had eaten the monster. They said that they were not scared of the creature so they decided to use it as food. One of the men said that it was the most delicious dish he had ever eaten.

Chairman of the Anomalous Phenomena Service, Andrei Gorodovoi, stated that the creature, which he could see on the short video, was an anomalous being. However, it could hardly be described as an extraterrestrial form of life, he added. Gorodovoi rejected the version about mermaids too. “There are many legends about mermaids living in the Sea of Azov. Nevertheless, specialists of the Service for Anomalous Phenomena have never confirmed those fairytales. On the other hand, we do not deny the possibility of other forms of life in the Sea of Azov,” the ufologist sad.

A spokesman for the Rostov-based zoo, Alexander Lipkovich, contacted local ichthyologists and asked their opinion about the Azov alien. “They said that the fish bears resemblance to a sturgeon. It was an extremely interesting individual. I have never seen anything like this before in my whole life,” the specialist said.

I personally think that this can also be a hoax, the alien fish looks too sci-fi. It can also be just a “really real looking” silicon model.

48 Whales & 5 Dolphins

Humans had also tried their best to save as much as they can but it’s not an easy job to always keep the whales safe. Sometimes when “Saving Private Whale” had come to the worst where it died on the beach, we humans had no choice but to blow up the seafood. I know, it’s cruel but effective.

Not sure when it started, but beached whale had a long history way back before Napoleon Bonaparte was borned. I tried google some of the related documents or articles and found not much about when it started, but there are 2 or 3 images that leads to an idea of how long or way before it does.

Why Mass Stranding?

Well, humans had not yet figure out any real reasons to why the whales made such a suicide attempt. Some said it can be attributed to natural and environmental factors, weather, illness, infections. Others said it to be a “Follow Me” stranding. The most recent reasons claimed to be sonar, a very loud noise from anti-submarine warfare sonar may hurt whales and lead to their beaching.

My Own Theory

Now, I am not a scientist. I don’t have a PHD. But I have one of my own conclusion regarding why the attempt to mass stranding and kill themselves. Wait, perhaps the word “Kill” is not suitable. The whales did not kill themselves, the mass stranding is not caused by infections, diseases, group brainwash or any super duper laser or radioactive wave or sonar shit.

I however suspect that it may have been a process of Evolution. We know that humans and other living, flying, walking beings on Earth does not pop out from thin air and rule the surface of the Earth. We were all from a single cell to tissues and organs and then life forms from sea. Evolution turns life form from sea slowly to walk on land and ended up flying in the sky.

So, question is “Why can’t it do the same for whale?” Maybe, just maybe… the whales or dolphines are trying to go through the same Evolution progress. They were trying to “walk on land“. I might be stupid or crazy to think such a reason even exist, but I don’t see why it does not. The whales had not been doing such action for just these few years. It was few hundred years back, way before humans even have any light bulbs in their house. So, in 1577 there was no submarine and no sonar shit. If it was a diseases, why can’t our current technology find any sign or cure after all these years?

When all of the known reasons were cleared out, I can only think of the Evolution to be the most possible reason where they are trying to force themselve to be able to “walk on land”. Just like how the rest of the walking beings on Earth had evolved long long time ago.
